Estimate is not the same as the estimate entered into TFS

Apr 9, 2013 at 8:45 AM
We enter a number of hours into a TFS task for the estimate, this looks like it is converted into days for printing on the card. Is it possible to ensure that the number entered as an estimate entered into TFS is the same as the number printed on the card? (Sorry if this is in fact a TFS issue, but I'm stuck with it at the moment).

Hi jonstewart

Please provide these informations:
  • what TFS server? 2010? 2012?
  • what TFS process template?
  • what Task Card Creator template?
and an example of what you enter - and what you get...

Thank you

Excuse the delay, here's the requested info:
  • TFS Server still 2010 (due to be upgraded to 2012 in next few weeks)
  • TFS Process Template: MSF for Agile Software Development V5.0
  • Task card creator template: MSF for Agile Report
  • Original task estimate: 21; remaining: 21; completed: <blank>
  • Task card value: 2.625
Having said that, I've just seeen another task card on the board that has an estimate of 35, and the number 35 appears on the card - don't know what the difference is.

If you read here: https://taskcardcreator.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Template%20Overview

and for the MSF for Agile Report template:

Team customization: Task Estimates are divided by 8 to show story point values instead of hours to maintain relevance to the Stories on the Scrum board.

Try using this: MSF for Agile Basic Report
